World premiere of all-new Trafic

Having claimed to have sold 1.6 million Trafic vans and derivatives since 1980, including ‘the first-generation developed solely by Renault’, the French company will reveal its third-generation design at the forthcoming commercial vehicle exhibition in Birmingham, UK on 29 April.

Observers will be able to make comparisons in detail between Renault’s Trafic and the Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro made only in Luton, Bedfordshire, UK. The Trafic is built in Sandouville, France.

Launching in the UK later this year, All-New Trafic is available in various body styles, including two different heights, two different lengths, panel van, crew-van, platform cab and passenger versions.

Both Trafic and Vivaro are powered by a new range of downsized, turbocharged engines. They are based upon the latest-generation, Renault-developed 1.6 dCi unit and feature advanced technology to combine welcome fuel consumption savings with real driving enjoyment. This range is available in two versions: a single variable geometry turbo which yields 15 per cent better fuel economy than the current model and a Twin-Turbo with combined fuel economy exceeding 47mile/gal.

Renault claims ‘these engines offer brisk pick-up and greater low-end torque for responsive acceleration, even when the vehicle is fully loaded’.

Neither Renault nor Opel/Vauxhall is releasing powers and torques of these two engines.
