Changan UK R&D Centre
Limited (CAUK) is looking to recruit advanced engine and transmission design
and development engineers as well as electronics engineers for its Nottingham R&D
centre.
Changan
Automotive is in the top 15 of vehicle manufactures in the world and top four
in China, according to the company.
Changan currently produce 2 million
vehicles a year under its own brand, which it claims represents a sales income
over £10 billion. Changan also has joint ventures with Ford Motor Company,
Mazda Motor Corporation, Suzuki Motor Corporation and PSA.
Changan UK R&D Centre Limited
(CAUK) is a UK company set up by Changan Automobile in June 2010. CAUK is
dedicated for powertrain design and development for Changan's next generation
vehicles.
CAUK is currently based in Nottingham
and says it has ambitious expansion plans for other, as yet undisclosed sites
in the UK. With major engine and transmission projects ongoing and planned in
CAUK, it is expected that more than 200 jobs will be created in CAUK in next
three years, the company says.

world's leading automotive company. Changan UK R&D centre is described as
being a vital part of the company's future strategy.
Changan has a number of R&D
centres around the world, including the Research Institute of Automotive
Engineering in headquarters (Chongqing), Automobile Research Institute
(Shanghai), Automobile Research Institute (Beijing), Automobile Research
Institute (Harbin), Automobile Research Institute (Jiangxi), Changan Auto
European Design Centre (Italy), Changan Auto Japan Design Center (Japan),
Changan UK Research & Development Centre (UK) and Changan USA Research
& Development Center (USA).
The company claims that five domestic
R&D centres in China and four overseas R&D centres help Changan form a
global R&D structure of ‘Five Countries (China, Italy, Japan, UK and USA);
and nine Locations (Chongqing, Shanghai, Beijing, Harbin, Jiangxi, Turin,
Yokohama, Nottingham and Detroit).
The locations have different
functions. The sites in China are responsible for vehicle engineering for
various applications; the location in Turin, Italy is responsible for styling;
the Yokohama facility in Japan covers interior design; the Nottingham, UK location,
as mentioned is responsible for advanced engine and transmission design and
development; and finally the facility in Detroit, Michigan in the US is
responsible for chassis design and development.
The UK location is at No. 1
Nottingham Science Park – opposite Nottingham University. Changan is following
in the footsteps of Tata Motors which located its technical centre on the
Warwick University site
